  • What are your hours of operations?

    Dinner begins at 6:45pm. Doors open at 6:30 for cocktail service (we kindly request that you do not arrive early, as we’re busy getting ready for you!).

    Reservations are required.


  • Can you accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions?

    We acknowledge and respect those who suffer from various allergies, and those who strive to avoid certain ingredients in pursuit of bettering their personal health. Our intimate dining experience has many benefits, but unfortunately it does not allow for individual dietary accommodations at this time, as there are too few of us serving the food to execute individual substitutions. 

    We can, however, accommodate tree nut allergies with at least 7 days’ notice—please email us at eat@restaurantsassafras.com to confirm. Kindly note that we are unable to accommodate other dietary restrictions or allergies, unless otherwise arranged with the restaurant.

    DURING OUR FALL/WINTER SEASON (November-February) WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE PESCATARIAN DIETS… though you may elect to skip courses. Please email us for questions/considerations.

  • Does Sassafras have a dress code?

    We refer to ourselves as rustic and refined. Feel free to come as you are, though diners will be most comfortable in smart casual attire. For those who prefer heels, take care walking through our gravel parking lot and on our creaky wooden floors. 

  • Are you kid friendly?

    We invite diners of all ages, though recommend children of 12 years or more. Please keep in mind that dinner is a multiple hour affair with around 12 courses, and everyone is served the same pre fixe menu. Every member of your party must have a reservation. 

  • What is your corkage policy?

    We invite you to bring the bottles that are special to you, as long as they are not on our current list. We charge $75 per 750ml bottle.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    For December and January Reservations: Similar to a sporting event, concert, or the theater, our ticketed dinners are prepaid and sales are nonrefundable. However, you may transfer your dinner tickets to another party by emailing the restaurant: eat@restaurantsassafras.com.

  • Where do I park?

    We are located at 12 Ericsson Avenue, Betterton, Maryland 21610. Parking is available for diners in the gravel lot directly in front of the restaurant.
